Olympic-style Epee Fencing - Training for Beginners, Recreational Fencers, and Competitive Athletes.

Take the Next Step

A Place to Improve, No Matter Where You Start

At Skyward Fencing, we focus on helping people get better—whether that means learning the basics, building consistency, or competing at a higher level.

Some of our fencers are just getting started. Others train and compete regularly at regional and national events. Most fall somewhere in between.

What they share is a desire to improve—and a place where that improvement is supported.

A path for every level. Start Here and Grow.

Most people begin with our structured classes. From there, fencers build skills, gain experience, and decide how far they want to take it.

Fencing Classes

People participating in a fencing class or practice session near the armory, with fencing equipment and a wooden wall background.

Our classes are designed to teach the fundamentals of fencing in a structured, supportive environment. These are offered through both direct enrollment and local park district programs.

Classes are grouped by age:

  • Ages 6–8

  • Ages 9–12

  • Ages 13+ / Adults

Students learn footwork, bladework, and the basics of fencing strategy while building confidence and coordination.

As fencers develop, many choose to continue training through membership.

This includes access to:

Private Lessons

For fencers who want to improve more quickly, private lessons provide focused, one-on-one coaching.

Lessons are tailored to the individual and often become part of a regular training routine for developing and competitive fencers.

  • Clear, structured coaching focused on real improvement

  • A mix of beginner, recreational, and competitive fencers

  • Opportunities to train, compete, and grow at your own pace

  • A welcoming, supportive environment without unnecessary pressure

A Strong Community

Skyward Fencing has grown into a community of athletes who support each other’s progress.

Some train for competition. Others fence for the challenge and enjoyment of the sport. Everyone contributes to an environment where people can learn, improve, and stay involved.
